Our homeprotect policy falls into three sections:
Buildings insurance
Contents insurance
Valuables and personal possessions insurance
And you can buy buildings or contents insurance as individual stand-alone products or as a combined policy (you get an extra 10% for buying them together as a combined policy). To buy valuables and personal effects cover, you must have at least contents insurance with us.
So what does each cover?
Buildings insurance:
Covers the physical structure of your home, the interior decorations, fixtures and fittings as well as garages, domestic outbuildings, drives, patios, gates, fences, walls, swimming pools and tennis courts within the boundary of your home
Protects them against losses from fire, lightning, storm or flood (apart from fences and gates), escape of water and oil, vandalism and subsidence.
Contents insurance:
Covers, on a new-for-old basis, your household goods such as furniture, furnishings, carpets, curtains and other personal property whilst inside the home as well as your own fixtures and fittings if you are a tenant at the property
Protects your possessions against losses arising from theft, fire, lightning, smoke damage, flood, storm and escape of water and oil
Automatically offers accidental damage cover on certain electrical items within your home including your TV, hi-fi, video recorder, DVD player/recorder and your home PC
Includes an automatic 10% increase in the contents sum insured for the Christmas period and for your wedding day
Covers your children’s possessions up to £2,500 while at university during term-time
Valuables and personal possessions:
Cover outside the home for things like clothing, jewellery, watches, cameras, precious metals, prams, pushchairs and child seats.
Optional additional cover:
Family legal protection covers up to £50,000 in legal costs for pursuing a valid claim for cases such as property/neighbour disputes, employment disputes etc
Home emergency cover, cover for emergencies like leaking pipes, central heating breakdown etc
